About Nature Therapy
DFW Nature Therapy is a touchstone for people in the Dallas Fort Worth area who feel disenfranchised from nature and disconnected from the earth. Perhaps they are oblivious to their surroundings, or perhaps they are suffering from Nature Deficit Disorder (NDD). NDD is a widely-documented phenomenon referring to the observation that people are spending less time outdoors, resulting in a wide range of behavioral problems, including: anxiety, stress, separation, and sadness.
DFW Nature Therapy is a program especially suited for individuals in metro areas who are closely affected by urban sprawl, a hectic urban lifestyle, and the exploitation of our precious local resources. It exists to educate people about the healing benefits of nature and nature therapy. Stephanie is the first licensed professional counselor in Dallas to provide nature therapy, and she is one of few therapists facilitating nature therapy as originally intended by its creator, Ryan Gerber.
Stephanie G. Kunkle-Timko, M.A., LPC-I, is a licensed professional counselor and environmental educator specializing in Nature Deficit Disorder in both adults and children. An accomplished public speaker, Stephanie takes her message of awareness of local ecosystems and ecopsychology before parents, educators and outdoor enthusiasts.
Whether educating school children about the local ecosystem, volunteering as a Texas Master Naturalist or using eco-psychology and nature therapy with clients Stephanie works tirelessly to nurture the fragile bonds between our daily urban lives and the natural world.
